The firm ARNALDO PIMENTEL BARBOSA, ARQUITECTO Lda. was launched in 1990 by its manager and partner Arnaldo Pimentel Barbosa.
For over 25 years, we have built a strong track record on seeking for intelligent and memorable solutions in response to a vast diversity of clients, resulting in beautifully detailed buildings and interiors within often tightly constrained budgets. Using simple and straightforward strategies in order to capture the best potential of a site, while drawing on a language of craftsmanship and material understanding, we create an architecture that brings artisanal expertise into contemporary relevance
During this period of time, the practice comprised a diverse range of projects in Portugal and abroad, that ranges from bank branches to residential, from workspaces to retail, from educational to health, from hotels to wineries.

Arnaldo Maria Pimentel das Neves Barbosa, founder and partner.Graduated from Escola Superior de Belas Artes do Porto in 1973. He has worked at Fundo Fomento da Habitação from 1974 to 1984, and at Instituto Nacional da Habitação from 1984 to 1990 when he left to establish the practice. |
João Maria Rosas Pimentel Barbosa, partner.The third consecutive generation of architects in his family, he is a Postgraduate Diploma (RIBA part II), from London Metropolitan University, UK since 2001, he is also an Executive MBA from Porto Business School since 2014. He has worked in the practice ever since, collaborating in most of the projects. |
